I just finished Nazi Germany- A Critical Introduction by Martin Kitchen. This book was on how Hitler came into power and gave a summary of his policies and the lead up to his government. What I really liked about this book was that it gave a great insight into all of Hitler’s motives and actions. Furthermore it focused on the political aspect of his dictation, which is an aspect I did not know much of. I have put sticky notes on all the crucial facts or anything that I think would come in handy.
I really enjoyed this book and did not find it a chore to read or think of it as just research for my assessment. I genuinely found it a very compelling read. An interesting fact I found out was that the leader of the first concentration camp was a man who had just been released from a mental asylum! I found this fact shocking and as soon as I read it, I had to share it with my family.
So far my research is going quite well. I have another book that I am going to read next. The book is called A Child of Hitler and focus on a man who was a member of Hitler Youth.
